Zelensky the fixer went to the Arab League top in Jeddah yesterday (Friday 19 May) and today he took the plane all the way to Hiroshima in Japan for the G7 conference. What he wanted? More money and more weapons for Ukraine, because weapons make peace in his philosophy.
He was warmly welcomed at the Arab League top in Saudi Arabia and the Saudians even wanted to pay him another $400M for humanitarian aid. It is still unclear if they will really pay out the cheque, but they did propose it, according to BBC News. The only country that squarely agreed with the Russian invasion was Syria, so BBC says, but the other countries were also not willing to send help or weapons to Ukraine. They thought the war should end, not go on and on. When Zelensky left the conference, he said to the media that some of the Arab leaders turned a blind eye on Ukraine.
But!

Today was a new day with new chances. Full of positive hope and fresh energy Volodymyr took the plane rightaway to the Japanese city of Hiroshima where the G7 top conference has taken place since yesterday or Friday. He arrived at 3.30 PM local time and was already very happy, since American President Joe Biden had at last given his okay for a load of F16 fighter jets just Friday.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak promised him a couple of hundreds of nice missiles with a reach of over 125 miles which is 201,168 kilometers according to the calculator. You can honestly ask yourself where the guy gets the money from, since the UK is bathing in debts and deficits. Yet the provision of the missiles was confirmed, so it is for the British population to worry now.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present as well and spoke with Zelensky, who urged him to respect his peace proposal that implies Russia should leave now, Ukraine must be a member of NATO and EU and Russia must pay trillions of dollars as repairment for the war. So far peace in Ukraine. So Modi tweeted in Ukrainian … that he is happy to have talked with Zelensky but nothing about agreeing to his peace papers.
Met with the President Zelensky in Hiroshima. Expressed our clear support for dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward. We will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.

Funny is how Zelensky saw the same meeting completely different, which you can read here on his Twitter account. “I thank India for supporting our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, in particular, at the platforms of international organizations, and for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine”. Modri didn’t say at all he agreed to any of Zelensky’s demands for ending the war.
Had a meeting with Prime Minister of India @narendramodi in Japan. I briefed the interlocutor in detail on the Ukrainian Peace Formula initiative and invited India to join its implementation. I spoke about Ukraine's needs in humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals. I thank…

Zelensky also had talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni about help for his country. Nothing is said anywhere about any promises, so probably Meloni only said she supports Ukraine. Italy doesn’t have the resources to send money or weapons, so she apparently was wise and didn’t promise Zelensky help that would harm her own people.
And he had talks with other western leaders: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel, so UPI tells us. Nothing is said about concrete promises for more help than the already much too expensive gift of the load of F16 fighter jets that the US is going to provide – they are American products – and Europe has to pay for.
Peace in Ukraine?
So peace after Bakhmut was taken by the Russians and normally they would take over the Donbass and sign for peace … I am afraid that isn’t next on the programme.
